When we talk about an emotional charge, what are we saying? Well, it's a feeling in the body, that is a response to whatever it is that you're reacting to, but also whatever it is, you're remembering. When we think about something the brain, the body, they don't know the difference between you thinking about something in the past and something that's happening in the present. So the same chemicals are released as how you're feeling in that moment, as they were when the memory occurred. As we think about things that bother us specifically, we are actually teaching the body to live chemically in that same response system as we did in the past.
