Springtime energetics in self-care

Energetic care changes in the season we're in. And each season support the next. It's the same within our own energy. Our energy shifts to support us as we move into new energy of each season.

Hello everybody happy springtime! As we move into springtime, this is the time where our liver energy in Chinese Medicine is really strong. This is a good thing. But it can also be something that we want to monitor.

For example, the liver energy is about upward and forward motion. Just like when you see seeds sprout from the ground, they're moving upward, and then they're getting ready to flourish in the summertime.

So the springtime is about creativity. It's about forward movement. And it's also about physical movement. It's time to move our bodies in gentle and wonderful ways, it's time to stretch, it's time to expand and take care of our tendons and ligaments. And it's also time to cleanse.

A lot of people ask about cleansing and the seasons.

In in Eastern medicine, and we don't like to cleanse during the winter time. Because if you were to do let's say, like a nutritional cleanse, a body cleanse, the winter is the time that the energy has gone within you. And you are resting, you are hibernating, your body is actually using its energy to keep you warm, and keep you restoring itself through the winter, to get to the spring. So the springtime and the summertime, is the time when that energy can open up a bit. And we can cleanse if you'd like to.

However, I always suggest and this is why I'm doing this today is the second day of spring, to take your time doing this to ease into it. It's like you're just sleeping in the winter. Now it's spring, but our body is still adjusting. I'm out here my morning walk and even though it's the second day of spring, I'm still protecting my throat and my neck, it's still chilly out. My system is starting to regulate itself moving from cold, some parts of the country has snow, right? So we're still adjusting ourselves. And we really want to take care of that.

Because when are kidney energy. And again, I'm talking about the energy, not the organ, the energy of the organ - when the kidney energy may be a little bit weak or tired, we can have a hard time adjusting temperatures in our body.

As seasons change, sometimes we can have some difficulty moving with that season.

So, as you're moving through from season to season, you want to be gentle, keep yourself protected. Keep your neck and throat protected, keep your back protected. You know, I'm here in California, and a lot of times, people will just start running out in shorts and tank tops because it's spring, but it's not quite that temperature yet. Just be mindful of that depending on where you are. And just think that your body is waking up. Okay, it's waking up.

And we want to do that with cleanses too, make sure you're feeling strong. Make sure you have enough time to actually care for yourself during your cleanse, make sure you have a lot of time to rest, and then ease into your cleanse if you'd like to do it. And again, also, like I said in the summertime, that can be a great time for a cleanse too.

We're going to be moving our body in different ways. We're going to be opening up different channels, we're going to be clearing in different differently. And if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask. Walking as usual is always great, I say that all the time. But now it's time to get our breath moving even more. Maybe even sweat a little bit, get out there. And do what you need to do.
